Application tips
Frankincense is a base note, so it goes into a blend at a lower rate than the sharper oils and still holds its place.
Add it to the carrier before the top notes, then let the mix stand overnight so the scent settles rather than sitting in layers. On the scalp it goes on parted sections, massaged in and left for half an hour. A dark glass bottle keeps a blend usable for months.
Results
Warm, dry and slightly sweet, closer to incense than to anything herbal. It does not clear a room the way peppermint does, which is why it earns cupboard space.
In a scalp oil it leaves the skin feeling comfortable and softened, and it gives a plain carrier a finished smell. The steam distillation shows in how clean the scent is, with no burnt edge behind it.
