Flat roots are a specific problem, and most volumising products do not solve it, because they add texture along the length where the hair was never the issue.
This foam goes on at the root. It lifts the hair off the scalp as it dries, so the shape starts higher and the curls below it read as fuller. At 4.2 oz it is a small can, which suits something used in small amounts at the roots rather than through the whole head.

Application tips
Part the hair into rows first, the way you would for an oil. The nozzle wants to be close in at the scalp, and small amounts along several partings beat one big handful. Massage it in with fingertips, then dry from underneath with your head forward. Keep it off the lengths entirely, because the lengths were never the problem and product there flattens what you just lifted.
Results
Roots stand away from the scalp instead of lying flat, and because the shape starts higher, the curls underneath read fuller than they measure. The foam is barely there once dry, with no crunch and no white cast at the parting.
Fine and thinning hair is where the difference shows most. Used regularly it also cuts back the breakage that comes with handling fragile strands.
