The plates are ceramic infused with keratin and carry UV filters, so the hair is shielded while it is being styled and the colour holds its tone for longer between appointments. Colour-treated hair is also more porous than it was before the colour went in, which means it takes heat faster and gives up moisture faster. Working at a lower temperature is the single most useful thing anybody can do about that, and proper digital control is what makes it possible to pick a number and stay on it.
