The D1500 folds down and weighs very little, which is the whole argument for owning one. Behind that is a 1400W motor, enough to dry hair rather than warm it, plus two heat and speed settings and a concentrator nozzle for directing air where you want it. Two settings gives you more control than most compact dryers bother with, so you can drop the heat for finer hair.
For gym bags, weekends away and small bathrooms where a full size dryer is a nuisance to store. Remington have kept enough power in it that you still get a smooth, tidy finish rather than a rough one, which is where most travel dryers fall down. It will not replace a full size dryer on very dense hair, but as a second dryer that lives in a bag it does what it needs to.
