Purple Reign is a toning conditioner, so the purple pigment handles the colour correction while the rest of the formula does the conditioning. It neutralises yellow and orange in blonde, silver and grey hair, and because it is a conditioner rather than a treatment you can build the toning up gradually over several washes instead of committing to one dramatic session.

Application tips
Wear gloves, or accept purple fingertips for the rest of the day.
On clean, wet hair, apply from mid-length to ends where the brass shows worst, keeping it off the scalp. A couple of minutes for maintenance, five when the yellow has properly set in, then rinse in cool water. Once a week is usually enough; more often than that and pale blondes can pick up a violet cast.
Results
Yellow and orange drop out and the hair reads cooler, closer to ash than to gold, without the flat grey cast a strong toner can leave. Because it conditions at the same time, the hair does not end up dry the way a purple shampoo often leaves it. Grey and silver look brighter and less dull. Blonde keeps its movement, since there is no oil weighing it down.
