The 354 ml Profectiv Mega Growth Detangling Conditioner is built for the second job. It smooths the cuticle so a wide-tooth comb passes without catching, and it carries a blend of oils and proteins that firm up the strand as it goes. Tugging is what breaks hair, so the less resistance you meet at this stage of wash day, the more length survives the week. It suits dry, tangle-prone hair across curl types 2a to 4a. Apply after shampoo, comb through from the ends upwards while the conditioner is still in, then rinse. Do not be sparing with it. A detangling conditioner spread too thin is the usual reason people decide a product has no slip.

Application tips
Order matters. Get it onto the hair before you attempt a single knot, and let it sit for a couple of minutes with the water off, so everything softens before anything mechanical touches it.
Then work in quarters. Finish one quarter completely, twist it up and move on. Rinse each twist on its own with your head tipped forward. Slower to describe than to do, and it stops the tangles reforming behind you.
Results
Hair that normally knots in the shower comes apart in a single pass, and the slip lasts long enough to cover a full head without reapplying.
Dry, the lengths feel stronger and look less frayed, with the surface smooth enough that a comb does not snag. Frizz drops away. Tangle-prone hair keeps more of its length for the simple reason that less tugging was needed to get through it.
