The violet pigment here is Acid Violet 43, and it works the way every purple shampoo works: it lays down a cool tone that cancels the yellow sitting underneath blonde, grey and white hair.
What PRO:VOKE adds on top is UV filtering, which matters more than it sounds. Sunlight is one of the main reasons cool tones drift warm, so a shampoo that shields the colour is doing preventative work as well as corrective. The conditioning side keeps the hair from going dry and straw-like, which is the usual complaint about toning shampoos.
