It is a curl-specific cleanser: enough detergent to get the scalp properly clean, enough moisture left behind that waves and spirals still form on their own as the hair dries. Application tips
Saturation comes first. Curly hair takes a while to take on water and dry patches never get properly clean, so stand under the shower longer than feels sensible before any shampoo goes on.
Then it is scalp only: a small amount, fingertips, circles, and let the rinse carry the lather through the lengths. Follow with the matching conditioner or a mask, and detangle at that stage rather than this one.
Results
The scalp comes up clean and the lengths keep enough moisture that curls are not squeaking and tangling before you have even reached for a conditioner.
Hair dries with the pattern intact rather than puffed out, and the shine is the kind that comes from a smooth cuticle rather than anything left on top. Weekly washing does not leave it stripped.
