33.8 oz is the family bottle, and it changes how you use a conditioner.

When there is plenty of it you apply enough, which is the single most common thing people get wrong with textured hair. A thin layer on a dense head of coils does nothing at all.

Olive oil is the base of the ORS Replenishing formula and it is a good match for relaxed and natural hair alike. It softens and smooths the cuticle down, which makes combing safer and cuts the breakage that comes from forcing a comb through a dry section. Elasticity improves with regular use, so the strand stretches rather than snapping.

Apply after shampooing, section by section, and leave it a few minutes before rinsing. It is a weekly workhorse rather than a treatment, and it suits anyone whose hair has been through colour, relaxer, heat or a hard winter.

Application tips

Wrestling the full-size bottle in a wet shower is awkward, so pour a week's worth into a smaller tub and keep the big one under the sink.

Four sections, a proper handful in each, worked down the shaft with the fingers. Leave it while you wash your face. A shower cap turns the same product into a longer treatment.

Results

Slip arrives while it is still on the hair, which is when detangling should happen rather than afterwards. Rinsed out, the lengths feel softer and lie flatter, and the cuticle stops catching on itself.

Hair that has been through colour or a relaxer regains some stretch, so it bends under a comb instead of parting company with your head.
