A 4 oz serum with a specific job in the relaxed hair routine: sealing the hair and holding a wrap set. That is narrower than a general-purpose oil, and it is why the texture is so light.
It absorbs fast and leaves a thin protective layer around each strand, which is what a wrap needs. The cuticle lies flat, frizz and static settle, and the hair keeps a luminous shine through the day rather than going dull by lunchtime. Olive oil handles the conditioning, and the barrier it forms reduces damage from blow-dryers and flat irons as well as slowing moisture loss. On relaxed hair that gets wrapped regularly, that protection matters more than it does on hair left to air dry. Apply sparingly to damp or dry hair before wrapping, working through the lengths rather than at the roots. Suits 2a through 3c, and textured, relaxed and natural hair alike.
