Olive oil is the active part. It forms a thin protective layer around each strand, which does two useful things at once: it smooths the cuticle so frizz, flyaways and static settle down, and it reduces the damage that comes from blow-dryers and flat irons. The 6 oz bottle is aimed at textured, relaxed and natural hair, where dullness and heat exposure tend to arrive together.
Apply a small amount to dry, finished hair, working through the mid-lengths and ends. The shine it leaves reads as healthy rather than wet or artificial, and the hair keeps its bounce. Suits 2a through 3c. Use it after heat styling, not instead of a heat protectant.
