It uses a broad-spectrum clarifying system to lift product build-up, minerals, metals and pollution, while the bond-building technology works on the disulphide bonds underneath. The 250 ml bottle is the standard size. Because it detoxes without stripping, it is a good wash to run before a colour appointment or a treatment, when you want the hair clean but not compromised.

Application tips
Reach for it when the hair feels coated rather than dirty, which for most people is every few washes rather than every wash. Wet thoroughly, work a small amount into the scalp with your fingertips, and let it sit a minute before you rinse.
Follow with a conditioner or mask without fail. A clarifying wash leaves the cuticle open and thirsty, and skipping the second step is what makes people call it drying.
Results
The hair feels lighter straight away. Roots that had gone limp under dry shampoo and styling product lift again, and colour reads clearer because there is less film sitting over it.
Swimmers and anyone on hard water will notice it most. Expect a squeakier finish than the regular No.4, which is the trade you make for a deeper clean, and one a conditioner puts right.
