Castor oil at full strength is thick and faintly sticky, and that is exactly what makes it good at staying where you put it. On hair it works best as a sealing step over damp lengths, or as a pre-wash treatment left on the scalp for an hour before you shampoo. On a dry, tight scalp, a small amount rubbed into the parting takes the tightness off.
The bottle also gets used well away from the head. A clean spoolie takes a trace of it along the brows to smooth stray hairs into place, and the same trick works on lashes as a conditioning coat.

Application tips
Damp hair, small amount, ends first. Rub two or three drops between the palms until they thin, then press them onto the last few inches and work upwards only if the hair still feels dry.
Scalp use suits a pre-wash better: apply, wait an hour, shampoo twice. For brows and lashes, load a clean spoolie, wipe most of it off, and comb through at night.
Results
The ends stay conditioned for days because nothing evaporates off, and that is the whole case for a thick oil. Combing pulls out fewer broken pieces. A dry scalp loses its tightness. Brows sit where you comb them and look glossier, and lashes gain a little weight and darkness without any product showing.
