On dark hair they hold the end of a plait, a section or a braid without adding a visible ring, so the style reads as one clean line instead of a series of joins.
Three hundred to a pack is the quantity that matches the job. Install braids, twists or cornrows and you go through dozens at a sitting, most of them cut off and binned at the end, so a pack of twelve is for tying the occasional ponytail and nothing more. These stretch enough to slide off cleanly rather than grabbing at the hair on the way out, and they hold their grip through a day of movement. When it is time to take a style down, snip them with the tip of a pair of scissors instead of dragging them along the length, and you lose nothing at the ends.

Application tips
Wrap two or three turns rather than five, and stop the moment the band grips. Over-tightening is what snaps the ends underneath.
To take one off, cut it with the tip of a pair of scissors instead of rolling it down the hair. On braid ends, seal with the band first and dip in hot water afterwards if the hair is synthetic.
Results
On dark hair the band disappears, so a plait or a braid finishes in a clean line with no coloured dot at the end.
The rubber holds tight all day without slackening or rolling loose. Three hundred covers a full head of braids with plenty spare, and they are small enough to live in a pocket or a kit bag.
