Restore is the stronger of the two Motions Active Moisture shampoos, aimed at hair that is dry and damaged rather than simply dry.

The distinction between this and the Nourish & Care version is worth understanding. Care is the maintenance wash for dry hair that is otherwise in decent shape. Restore is for hair that has been through bleach, relaxer, tight styling or heat, and needs the wash step to be doing repair work rather than holding the line. The bottle is 16 oz. Use it as your regular shampoo through a recovery period, follow with a deep conditioner, and go easy on the heat while the hair rebuilds. Curl types 2a through 3c are the natural fit, though damage does not respect curl charts.

Application tips
Wet the hair for a full minute before you start, longer than feels necessary.
Work about two tablespoons into the scalp in sections, flat fingerpads and small circles, then draw the lather down without scrunching the ends into a ball. Rinse for as long as you washed. On braids or twists, dilute it in a bottle and apply along the partings instead.
Results
You get a properly clean scalp without the tight, stripped feeling that follows a harsh wash.
Lengths stay soft enough to comb wet, which is where most breakage happens. Colour and shine look brighter once the film of old product is off. Conditioner spreads much further over a properly cleansed head.
