Mielle Mongongo Oil Pre-Shampoo Treatment 5oz
A pre-shampoo goes on before the water does, and it is the step most people skip. The reasoning behind it: shampoo hits dry hair hardest, and putting a layer of conditioning oil down first means the cleanse takes off the dirt rather than everything else along with it.
Mielle build this one on mongongo kernel oil, a southern African nut oil, with sweet almond, sacha inchi, argan, grapeseed and kukui nut alongside it. It goes on at the scalp, gets worked through to the ends, sits while you do the rest, then rinses lightly before the shampoo.
What you notice is the detangling. Hair that normally knots the second it meets water comes through the wash with far fewer tangles, and the shine afterwards beats what a shampoo alone would give you.

Application tips
Dry hair, before you get in the shower. Four sections, a line down each parting, then pull the rest through to the ends with your fingers.
Fifteen minutes is enough, longer under a cap if you have the time. Rinse briefly so the bulk of it goes, then shampoo as normal. Skipping that rinse costs you the lather.
Results
Wet hair behaves. Knots that normally form the second water hits stay loose, so detangling after the conditioner takes half the time and pulls out less.
The shampoo still cleans, but the length comes through it softer than usual. Hair dries with more shine than the same wash gives without this step.
