One ingredient, 150ml of it. That size is unusual for a pure rosemary oil, and it makes this a bottle for people already using rosemary regularly rather than trying it once.

What is inside is pure Rosmarinus Officinalis leaf oil, with no additives, fillers or artificial fragrance. Being undiluted, it is potent, and it wants a carrier oil or a cream before it goes anywhere near skin.

What it does

  • Gives you pure rosemary leaf oil with nothing else in the bottle
  • Works as a pre-shampoo scalp treatment, massaged in and left on
  • Boosts a hair mask or conditioner when a few drops are stirred through
  • Can be used in a diffuser for the herbaceous scent

How to use it

For the scalp, apply two to five drops and massage with your fingertips for five to ten minutes, then leave on for at least thirty minutes or overnight before shampooing and conditioning. Two to three times a week. For skin, dilute one to two drops in a carrier oil such as jojoba, almond or argan, or in your face cream, and apply sparingly in the evening, avoiding the eye area.

Patch test before wider use and store somewhere cool and dark. For external use only. Suits all hair and skin types. 150ml bottle (5.07 oz).

Application tips

Rosemary is strong, so it always goes into something else first. A teaspoon of a carrier such as jojoba or grapeseed, the rosemary stirred in, and mix it in a dish rather than tipping it straight onto the head.

Work along the partings with the pads of the fingers, not the nails. Cap the hair while it sits. Shampoo it out properly afterwards, since a carrier oil left in will flatten the roots.

Results

The scalp feels clean and comfortable rather than tight, and the herbaceous smell hangs around pleasantly for an hour or two after a treatment.

Stirred into a conditioner or a mask, it lifts the whole thing, adding scent and a little more slip. Hair comes out looking less flat, and there is less breakage through the lengths because the strands are being conditioned rather than left dry.
