Pure castor oil is thick and slow moving. Most people find it easier to use if they warm the bottle in a mug of hot water first, or stir a spoonful into a conditioner. Used neat, a few drops go a long way on the ends, and it stays put on a hairline or the perimeter where hair gets pulled tightest.
It works on skin as readily as hair. Cuticles, dry patches, brows and lashes all take it, applied with a clean spoolie or a fingertip.

Application tips
Part the hair down the middle and again across, then apply along each parting rather than tipping it over the top of the head. Four partings covers most heads.
Give it an hour under a cap before you wash, or overnight if the hair is very dry. It needs a proper shampoo to come out, since a co wash will leave it sitting there. Once a week is enough.
Results
Dry ends stop feeling papery and start behaving, holding a curl instead of frizzing apart at the tips. The comb meets less resistance, which is where most length actually gets lost.
On skin it does the same slow, heavy job. Rough patches soften with repeated use and the surface holds water better afterwards. Nothing about it is quick, which is more or less what a single ingredient oil is for.
