The satin lining does what satin does. Hair glides against it, so there is far less of the friction that produces frizz, tangles and breakage, and it takes almost no moisture out of the hair, so your conditioner and oil stay where you put them.

Application tips
The extra room is there so you can put the hair in loosely, which is the point of buying XL.
Tip forward, let everything fall in, then bring the edge to the nape and up over the front without compressing the crown. Box braids and locs go in without folding twice. Take it off from the back so it is not dragged across the hairline. Hand wash and dry flat.
Results
A big head of hair keeps its shape rather than being squashed into whatever the cap could manage. Braids come out lying the way they went in, and locs are not creased at the root.
Friction is low enough that the ends stop shedding into the bedding, and oils and conditioners are still working at breakfast. One cap, all night, no readjusting at two in the morning.
