Foils are the salon method for highlights. A tipping cap is the home method, and for some results it is actually the better one. Fine, evenly scattered highlights across a whole head are hard to place with foils and straightforward with a cap, because the spacing of the holes has already been decided for you.

The cap goes on tight, strands get pulled through, and everything still underneath is sealed away from the colour. That seal is what stops bleach bleeding into hair you wanted left alone, and it is why cap highlights come out cleanly defined rather than muddy at the roots.

Two decisions shape the result. How many strands you pull, and how evenly you space them across the cap. Pull sparingly and you get a fine, sun-lightened effect. Pull heavily and you get obvious streaks.

It is built to be reused rather than thrown away, so it washes out and goes again. Suitable for a full head, for partial work around the face, or for a frosted finish on shorter hair.

Application tips

Comb the hair flat and dry before it goes on, then pull the cap down until it grips the whole head with no slack at the crown. Use the hook to draw strands through, working front to back so the spacing stays in view.

Colour goes on only once every strand you want is out. Rinse with the cap still in place, then take it off and condition.

Results

Colour lands only where you pulled it through. Everything still underneath comes out untouched, which is what keeps highlights crisp and roots clear of the bleed a badly folded foil gives you.

Density is entirely your call. A scattered few strands read as sun lightening, a heavier pull reads as deliberate streaks, and the spacing stays consistent either way.

Composition

The full INCI is printed on the pack. We publish it here as soon as the brand supplies it, and we will read it off the bottle for you if you ask.
