Setting hair with rollers works, and then falls apart in the hour before it has properly dried. A mesh wrap goes over the top of a set and holds everything in position while that happens. Without one, the rollers at the back shift, the sections loosen and the curl pattern comes out uneven.
This is a foam mesh wrap, so it is soft enough to sleep in and open enough that air still reaches the hair underneath. It works over rollers, over a wrap set, or over hair that has had setting lotion put through it and needs to be left alone.

Application tips
Put it on the moment the last roller is in, not after you have wandered round the house for ten minutes. Start at the nape, bring it forward over the crown, and settle the foam edge just behind the hairline.
Check nothing is squashed at the back, because a flattened roller sets as a flattened curl. Leave it on until the hair is dry the whole way through, testing a section at the nape rather than the top.
Results
A set holds its geometry. Rollers stay where you wound them, sections keep their partings, and the curl comes out even from front to back instead of tight at the top and loose underneath.
Air still gets through, so the hair dries rather than steaming. The foam edge sits against the forehead without leaving the crease a tight band gives you by morning.
