Hold is the thing this one is actually selling. Where a curl cream keeps a pattern soft, an 8oz custard like this sets it, so the definition you put in at nine in the morning is still there at pick-up.
That normally costs you in dryness, and Luster's Pink work around it by keeping the base a moisturising one. The custard seals moisture in as it dries rather than pulling it out, which is why the curls stay soft under the hold and the ends are less prone to splitting after a run of styled days.
Apply to damp hair in small sections, smooth each section down, then coil, twist or scrunch depending on the finish you want. Let it dry fully before you separate anything, or the frizz comes straight back. It is aimed at denser children's textures, type 3B through 4C, where curls need help to stay defined. Custard is also more forgiving than gel on a child who will not sit still. You can go back over a section that has dried badly, wet it down and reshape it, without stripping the whole head and starting again.
