L'Oréal Professionnel Serié Expert Chroma Crème Blue Dyes Shampoo Orange Tone Neutralizing & Colour Correction for Light to Medium Brown Hair 300 ml/10.14 oz
Blue sits opposite orange on the colour wheel, and that is the whole mechanism here. Brown hair that has been lifted or coloured turns warm as it fades, and blue pigment cancels the orange out rather than covering it up.
Chroma Crème is L'Oréal Professionnel's tinted shampoo range, made with the Colour Labs and the Haircare Labs working together, and this is the brunette version. Alongside the pigment it carries the caring side of the formula, targeting the porous areas of the hair where warmth shows up worst.
- Neutralises orange tones in light to medium brown hair
- Professional-grade dyes for a truer, cooler result
- Conditions porous, damaged sections while it tones
- 300 ml/10.14 oz
Purple shampoo is for blondes. If your hair is brown and going orange, this is the one you want, and it works best alternated with your usual shampoo rather than used at every wash.

Application tips
Blue pigment works on brown hair the way purple works on blonde, and it needs the same discipline. Lather into wet hair, leave it two to three minutes, then rinse fully. Gloves if your hands stain easily, and rinse the shower down afterwards.
Once a week is a sensible starting point. Push it to every wash only if the orange keeps coming back, then drop it again once the tone settles.
Results
Orange is the specific target. On light and medium brown hair that has warmed up since it was coloured, the shampoo cancels that reflect and the brown reads cooler and truer within a wash or two.
Porous, worn sections take it up first, which evens out patchiness along the lengths. The formula conditions as it goes, so the hair is not left with the rough, chalky feel that plain pigment shampoos can leave behind.
