Hair that is dry and damaged at the same time is awkward to treat. Moisture alone will not hold if the strand is too weak to keep it in, and strengthening alone leaves it brittle. This blend goes at both ends of the problem.

Jamaican black castor oil handles the scalp and the sealing. Mango seed oil, which is rich in fatty acids, handles the softening, and it is the reason the blend feels less like a straight castor oil in the hand. Kuza aim it at curly, coily and kinky textures, and it makes most sense on hair that has been coloured, heat styled or simply left alone too long. On hair that is already in good condition you will not notice much, which is a reasonable way to judge whether you need it.

  • Warm the oil in your palms first, because 118ml/3.99 oz of it is thick off the shelf
  • Apply to a sectioned scalp and massage for a minute
  • Take the rest through damp mid-lengths and ends
  • Repeat once or twice a week

Best on type 3b to 4c. Very dry hair can take it more often than that.

Application tips

Damp hair takes it better than dry. Put a leave in on first, let it settle, then use this to close the length so the water underneath has nowhere to go.

A warm towel over the head for ten minutes helps it move into coarse sections. Twice a week is a sensible starting rhythm, and heat damaged ends may want a little more.

Results

Two things happen at once. The length softens, which is the mango seed side, and it stays soft, which is the castor side.

Hair that has been coloured or ironed feels less like straw within a couple of applications, and coils clump better and look fuller. It is rich, so hair already in good shape will find it more than it needs.

Composition

Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Handles the scalp and seals whatever moisture is already in the hair
Mango Seed Oil
Rich in fatty acids, so the length softens rather than only sealing
