A 150ml bottle of cold pressed sweet almond oil, unblended, for hair and skin both.

On hair, the fatty acid content does the work: almond oil moisturises dry, brittle lengths, gives enough slip that combing pulls less, and strengthens the strand against the breakage and split ends that come with daily handling. Vitamin E and the B vitamins are the notable nutrients. On skin it moisturises without leaving a heavy film, so it is usable on the face as well as the body, and the same bottle stretches across both jobs.
Light enough for type 2a hair and rich enough for type 4a. Warm a small amount in your palms, work it through damp hair, and leave the roots alone unless your scalp is dry.

Application tips
On hair, three or four drops warmed in the hands and drawn through damp mid lengths after washing. It also works overnight if you use more and wash it out in the morning.
On skin, straight from the bottle after a bath, while you are still slightly wet, which is when it spreads furthest. Face too, if you are not prone to congestion. Cap tight, out of sunlight.
Results
Comb drag is the first thing to change. Almond oil adds enough slip for a wide tooth to pass without grabbing at the knots, and less grabbing means fewer split ends by the end of the month.
Dry lengths soften without going limp. On skin it absorbs rather than sitting greasy, so a shirt goes on ten minutes later and does not mark.
