Spread it through the hair with your fingers, massage gently, leave it for about thirty minutes, then wash thoroughly with shampoo. Once or twice a week is the usual routine. In hot climates the traditional method skips the wash entirely and the oil is simply massaged in before combing, which tells you something about how long people have been using it this way.
Mustard oil is heavy and it warms the skin, and that warmth is why it works as a scalp and body massage oil rather than a finishing oil. The heat is noticeable and the smell is pungent. Neither is a fault. It is what the oil is.
It is also used for the care of dry skin, so the 250ml bottle covers more than hair. Suits type 2a through 4a. If you have never used mustard oil before, try a small area first, because the warming effect catches some people out.
