A reconstructor is a different animal to a moisture mask. It works on the inside of the strand, where the damage from bleach, relaxer, heat and rough handling actually sits, and it is the step you reach for once conditioner alone has stopped making a difference.

Keracare's version works in two places at once. Inside the cortex it fortifies fibres that have fractured. On the outside it lays down a protective network around the shaft that holds moisture in. The 8 oz tub covers a lot of treatments, because this is not a weekly product for most people.

If your hair is protein-sensitive, space it out and watch how it responds. Too much protein and too little moisture leaves hair stiff and prone to snapping, which is the opposite of what you were after.
