Curl Essence is the moisture line in the KeraCare range, and this is the rinse-out conditioner in it. It is aimed at 2a through 3c hair that dries out faster than it should, which describes most coils and tight curls: the bends in the strand make it harder for oil to travel down, so the whole line is built around putting moisture in and then keeping it there.
In use it is thick enough to coat a section properly and not so heavy that fine curls collapse. You get real slip out of it, which is what makes finger detangling possible on a wash day, and the softness holds after it dries rather than vanishing the moment the hair is dry.

Application tips
Rinse the shampoo out properly first, then squeeze the hair between your hands until it stops dripping. Conditioner on soaking hair mostly goes down the drain.
Four sections. Coat each one from the ears down, then finger detangle while the product is still slick. Clip it up, give it five minutes, rinse cool. Leave the scalp out of it unless the skin is dry.
Results
The slip arrives immediately, and there is enough of it to take a wash day tangle apart with fingers alone. Sections stay separated instead of knitting back together while you work.
Softness is still there once the hair dries, which is what separates a good rinse out from a cheap one. Coils and tight curls keep their moisture longer, and those are the textures where oil struggles to travel down a bent strand.
