The tingle is the point. Menthol, peppermint and a blend of botanical extracts hit the scalp the moment the lather goes on, and the cooling sensation carries on for the length of the wash. Some people find it bracing, some find it addictive, and almost nobody is neutral about it.
Underneath the sensation it is a firm cleanser. It clears sebum, styling product, pollution and dead skin from the scalp, which is exactly what you want before a fresh set of twists or braids goes in. Hair comes out clean, the scalp feels fresh, and the cool stays with you for a few minutes after you rinse.
