Butters and thick oils are hard to apply to a scalp that is already covered in hair. This serum solves that. Pimento oil, the aromatic oil from Jamaican allspice, comes in a light carrier blend that runs between the strands instead of sitting on top of them.
Pimento contains eugenol, which is where the warm, spicy feeling on the skin and the clove like smell both come from. A few drops massaged in warms the scalp noticeably, and the sensation fades after a minute or two. The same serum works on the lengths, sealing the cuticle, controlling frizz and putting shine on locs, braids and loose natural hair, so one bottle handles the roots and the ends without you switching products halfway.

Application tips
Tip the bottle against the parting rather than pouring into your palm, where most of it gets wasted.
Three or four drops per section, fingertips down, then move the parting along an inch and repeat across the head. Give the lengths whatever stays on your hands, drawn down the shaft in one pass. Warmth builds over the first minute and settles again shortly after. Two or three times a week suits most people, dry hair or damp.
Results
Heat rises across the skin as the eugenol goes to work, then fades to a mild tingle. It is the sort of sensation people either enjoy or find too busy.
On the hair, the finish is glossy without weight. Loose ends lie down, locs read darker and richer, and the spicy scent stays faintly on the hair through the day. Nothing is left behind on a pillow or a collar.
