Peppermint is the variant people reach for when they want to feel the oil working. Menthol gives an immediate cool tingle across the scalp, which is a genuinely pleasant thing on a day when everything feels tight and dry, and it is the main practical difference between this and the plain roasted oil.
The base is the same authentic Jamaican black castor oil: dark, thick, and slow to move, so apply it along partings rather than tipping it onto the top of the head. It seals well, which makes it a good last step over a damp leave-in, and it is heavy enough to stay on the ends through a week of a protective style. Best on type 3b through 4c hair, and the 4 oz bottle will last a while at a few drops per section.

Application tips
Do a small patch behind the ear first if you have never used a mentholated oil. The tingle is strong and a few people find it too much on broken skin.
Otherwise: rows, a drop each, fingertips not nails. Leave it on rather than rinsing. If you want the cooling without the weight on your lengths, keep it strictly to the scalp and use something lighter on the hair.
Results
The cold arrives in about ten seconds and builds for a minute or so before it settles. On a hot day under a full head of braids that sensation is worth the price on its own.
Underneath the tingle, the scalp comes out conditioned and less tight, and the ends hold moisture for days. Hair looks darker and glossier while the oil is on it, and one application is still doing something seven days later.
