Garnier Hair Food Papaya & Coconut Repairing Conditioner for Damaged & Dry Hair 350 ml/11.83 oz
Hair that has been through heat, colour or a rough winter tends to give up in the same place, from the mid-lengths down. The cuticle sits open, moisture leaves faster than it arrives, and the comb finds every weak spot. This is the conditioner for that stage, applied after shampoo while the hair is still soaking.
The 350 ml bottle holds a thick rinse-out cream rather than a light detangler. Papaya and coconut extracts carry the conditioning, in a formula that is 98% natural origin, vegan, and made without silicones, parabens or artificial colourants. Nothing is coating the strand to fake smoothness, so what you feel afterwards is the hair itself.
It is a rinse-out step and it does not replace a mask. If the hair is badly damaged you will still want a deep treatment every fortnight or so, with this one doing the maintenance in between.
What it does:
- Softens dry, damaged lengths without leaving a film
- Reduces breakage from combing and heat styling
- Gives slip, so a wide-tooth comb passes cleanly
- Suits waves through to looser curls, roughly type 2a to 3c
Leave it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing. On denser or more porous hair, work it in section by section rather than raking it through the top layer and hoping.

Application tips
Start with a walnut-sized amount and add more only if the ends still feel rough. Rake it down the hair with your fingers spread, then hold the lengths in a fist and squeeze upward so it works into the ends properly. Two minutes while you finish washing is enough. Rinse it out under cooler water, then blot rather than rub, using a cotton T-shirt instead of a towel.
Results
The comb stops catching once you get past the ears, which is where damaged hair usually gives you trouble. Hair air-dries softer and looks less frayed at the ends. There is no film left over it, so the effect does not stack into dullness across a fortnight. Bleached lengths feel less like straw, though it will not put a split end back together.
Composition
- Papaya Extract
