Garnier Hair Food Coconut & Macadamia Shampoo, Nourishing & Smoothing for Dry, Frizzy Hair 350 ml/11.83 oz
Macadamia oil is the less obvious half of this pairing. Coconut oil gets the attention because it penetrates the strand, but macadamia is heavier and stays on the surface, which is what smooths a frizzy cuticle rather than only moisturising it. Together they suit hair that is dry and unruly at once, rather than one or the other.
The wash itself is a 350 ml bottle of 98% natural origin formula. On coarse or curly hair it cleanses without stripping, which is the harder half of the job when the hair is already dry.
What to expect:
- Frizz sits down noticeably from the first wash
- Hair feels soft rather than squeaky after rinsing
- Flyaways stay flatter through the day
- Works on type 2a through 3c textures
Follow it with the matching conditioner if your ends are particularly dry. On its own it cleanses well but does not give much slip for detangling.

Application tips
Warm water rather than hot, since heat lifts the cuticle and undoes the smoothing before you have finished rinsing. Emulsify the shampoo in wet palms first, then apply it in strips down the parting so it reaches the scalp under thick hair. Massage for a minute. Rinse for longer than you think, particularly at the nape, where anything left behind tends to dull the hair by the next day.
Results
Coarse hair comes out feeling smooth instead of squeaky, and the surface stays flatter as it dries. Flyaways at the crown are noticeably calmer. It cleans thoroughly enough for a weekly wash on curly hair without leaving the ends brittle. There is little slip on its own, so keep a conditioner to hand before you start combing anything. The coconut scent does not linger past the morning.
