Short shears for detail work. At 5.5 inches the 334-13 is built for fringe trims, point cutting and close blending rather than for taking length off in bulk.

  • Japanese stainless steel blades, SUS440C grade
  • Ergonomic offset handle to reduce hand fatigue
  • Lightweight build for control through fine work
  • Blades honed for clean cuts that keep the ends tidy

Weight matters more on a short scissor than a long one. Detail work means dozens of small closures in a row, and a heavy pair turns that into wrist ache by mid afternoon. The lightweight build here is doing more than the spec sheet makes it sound.

It pairs with a longer scissor rather than replacing one. Most stylists build the shape with six inches or more, then switch to something like this for the fringe, the sideburns and the last ten minutes of finishing. That last ten minutes is what the client remembers.

Application tips

Take a finger's width of hair at a time. Feed a 5.5 inch blade more than it can hold and the far end of the section finishes shorter than the near end, every time.

Between clients, a soft cloth and nothing wet. At the end of the week, open them fully, clean along the inside edges where product collects, and oil the pivot.

Results

A detail pair with enough length to be useful elsewhere. Fringes, layers around the face and neckline work all sit comfortably in this size, and blunt lines up to a bob are still within reach. SUS440C steel keeps an edge a long time between sharpenings, and it does not rust when the inevitable happens and they get put away slightly damp.

Composition

Japanese Stainless Steel
SUS440C grade, hard enough to hold a fine edge and shrug off rust
