Six and a half inches is a long blade for hairdressing, and that is the point of it. A longer blade takes a bigger section per closure, which speeds up bulk work and makes scissor over comb far easier to control. It is less use for fine detail around the ear and the fringe, which is why most stylists carry one long pair and one short.

The 334-00 is built for that role in premium Japanese stainless steel, finely honed so it glides through hair rather than pulling at it. A working tool for a busy chair rather than an occasional trimmer, and the steel choice reflects that. Hard enough to hold the edge through daily use, corrosion resistant enough to survive a wet salon.

Two other things about long shears. They need a slightly wider hand position to control, so try before you commit if you have small hands. And they are heavier, which is fine over the comb and tiring over a long day of detail work.

Application tips

Long blades reward a slow hand. Take smaller sections than you would with a five inch pair, keep the fingers behind the blade line, and let the length do the work on straight sections rather than sawing at them.

After a wet cut, dry the blades and the pivot. Product residue left sitting on them overnight does more harm than a full day of cutting.

Results

A 6.5 inch pair is bought for reach. Long straight sections come off in a single pass, necklines and outlines take one clean sweep, and there is less stepping to correct afterwards.

They suit barbering and one-length work more than fine detailing. The weight sits forward, which feels substantial once you are used to it and speeds up bulk work considerably.
