A 178ml/6.02 oz bottle of Jamaican black castor oil covers a lot of ground: scalp massage, pre shampoo treatment, sealing damp hair, laying edges before a style. Fantasia IC's is the standard roast rather than the extra dark, so it runs a little lighter on the hair and the smoky smell is milder, which matters if you intend to leave it in.
The oil is high in ricinoleic acid and omega-9 fatty acids, and that is why it feels so much thicker than a plain vegetable oil. On the hair it seals, softens and cuts down the breakage that comes from combing dry strands. On the scalp it conditions and takes away the dry, tight feeling that follows a stripping shampoo.
Warm it first. Cold castor oil is sticky and hard to spread.
Suits type 3b through 4c, and it layers well under a butter on wash day.
