Extra dark means the castor beans were roasted for longer before pressing. What comes out is darker, thicker and more alkaline than standard clear castor oil, with a stronger smoky smell and real weight on the hand. That weight is what makes it useful on coarse, dry, high porosity hair. It coats the strand properly, holds moisture in over a leave in, and gives enough slip that detangling stops pulling ends apart. Massaged into the scalp it softens dry skin and takes the tightness out.
Fantasia IC bottle it at 178ml/6.02 oz, which is generous for a castor oil, so it works as a weekly scalp and length treatment rather than something you ration. Best on type 3b to 4c. Fine or low density hair will find the standard version less of a load.
