Castor oil is thick, sticky and slow to absorb, which makes it a difficult thing to use neat and a very good thing to build a conditioner around. The weight suits 3B to 4C hair, where lighter formulas simply vanish.

Difeel's version is a rinse-out. On coarse and coily textures it delivers enough emollience to soften the strand properly, and it takes the tightness out of a dry scalp at the same time. The strength benefit is straightforward. Hair that is well conditioned bends under a comb instead of snapping, and fewer snapped ends means more length staying put.

  • Rich enough for dense, coarse and coily hair
  • Softens the feel of a dry scalp
  • Reduces breakage and split ends during handling
  • Adds shine and makes hair easier to manage

355ml. Apply after shampoo, work through in sections, leave a few minutes, rinse. On very dry hair, follow with a leave-in rather than relying on this alone.

Application tips

Detangle in it. That is the main use for a conditioner this rich: apply generously to soaking sections, then take a wide tooth comb through each one while the slip is at its peak, working from the ends back toward the root.

Clip the finished sections away. Only once the whole head is through should you rinse. Trying to detangle afterwards wastes most of what the product gave you.

Results

Dense, coily hair softens enough to handle without a fight, and the slip lasts long enough to get a full detangle done in one sitting. Shine turns up on textures that usually read matte.

The scalp stops feeling tight. Breakage in the comb drops sharply, which on tightly coiled hair is the single biggest factor in whether length shows. Looser curl types may find it too rich and should use less.
