Three steps in one bottle. It cleanses, it detangles, and it conditions, all in the same pass. That is the appeal of a co-wash, and it is aimed squarely at people whose curls cannot take a traditional shampoo every time.
Dark and Lovely's Dream Clean is sulphate-free and built on mango oil and bamboo milk. The mango oil is fatty and softening, which helps hair stretch rather than snap while you are combing it out. The bamboo milk works on strength, reinforcing the strand so it holds up to handling. Between them they shift product build-up and sweat without stripping the natural oils that curly and coily hair depends on.
Used properly, you massage it into the scalp with your fingertips, work it down the lengths, detangle while it is on, then rinse. Hair comes out ready to style straight away rather than needing a separate conditioner.
Co-washing does not suit everyone. If you use a lot of oil-based product, wear silicone-heavy stylers, or your scalp gets greasy quickly, you will still want a proper shampoo every few weeks to reset. Used the other way round, as the default with an occasional clarifying wash, it works well.

Application tips
Expect to use more than you would of a shampoo. There is no foam to tell you it is working, so judge by coverage rather than lather and go again if a section still feels dry.
Warm water helps it spread and rinse away cleanly. Give the rinse longer than usual too, because a conditioning base clings to coily hair far more readily than a detergent does.
Results
Hair comes out clean but never squeaky, with the scalp refreshed and the lengths still holding their softness.
Knots that would normally need a separate conditioning step have already gone by the time you rinse. Curls keep their bounce and their moisture, so wash day gets shorter without the hair paying for it.
