Hold it a few inches back, mist in sections, comb, then reshape. For braids and twists, aim along the partings rather than over the top, so the moisture reaches the hair instead of sitting on the surface of the style. Good on type 2 waves through type 3B curls.

Application tips
Keep it for the days between washes. Mist over dry or damp hair, concentrating where the hair rubs against a collar or a pillow, then work it through with your hands. Hold the bottle far enough back that the spray lands as a mist, not a jet, otherwise one patch takes everything. Use it before a comb, never after a comb has already snagged.
Results
Hair softens within seconds of the spray landing and the comb stops catching partway down. The finish is lighter than a cream leave-in gives, so fine or loose curls are not flattened.
