Clere Perfumed Petroleum Jelly Cocoa Butter Deeply Moisturising & Protecting for Dry Skin & Hair 250ml/8.45 oz
Petroleum jelly does one thing extremely well: it sits on the surface and stops moisture leaving. Adding cocoa butter to it gives you the sealing effect plus something that actually softens the skin underneath.
- Seals moisture into dry, rough skin on elbows, knees and heels
- Theobroma cacao seed butter softens and smooths, and supports skin elasticity
- Useful on chapped hands and lips through winter
- Light fragrance rather than the plain paraffin smell
On hair it has a second life. A small amount smoothed over the ends seals them before a protective style, and it soothes the feel of a scalp that has gone tight and dry, though it is heavy enough that a little is genuinely enough. The 250ml/8.45 oz jar will last months at that rate.
Warm it between your fingers first, since it spreads far more easily once it has softened, then apply thinly to skin or to the ends of the hair.

Application tips
Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it turns from solid to slick, then work it into the ends. On hair this is a sealing step, so it goes on last, over a leave-in or a cream rather than instead of one. Edges and the nape take a thin smear. On skin, elbows, knees and heels are the usual candidates. Less than you think, and only where the dryness actually is.
Results
Moisture stops escaping. Petroleum jelly does not add water to the hair, it holds in whatever is already there, which is why the leave-in has to go first.
Ends stay soft for days rather than hours and stop looking pale and split at the tips. Skin loses the tight, chalky feel. The scent is light and the cocoa butter carries most of it.
