Everything else in a styling routine happens on wet hair. This one happens at the end, once the style is dry and you want it to survive the walk to the bus stop. It is a light mist that sits over a finished style and holds humidity off it.
Cantu built it around shea butter, so it adds a little moisture and sheen while it sets, rather than drying the hair out the way a lot of finishing sprays do. The hold is real but soft. Hair stays touchable, not stiff or sticky, and it works over a blow-dried style as readily as over curls.
The formula leaves out:

Mist it over dry hair from a short distance, moving as you go so you are not soaking one spot. Do not comb through afterwards, or you undo the point of it.

Application tips
Wait until the style is bone dry. A mist on damp hair will drag the shape out of it.
Work around the head at a short distance, a second or two per area, and give the crown and the parting a little extra since that is where damp air gets in first. Leave it to set. No brushing, no scrunching, no fiddling.
Results
A finished style survives weather it would otherwise lose to. Curls keep their shape on a wet walk, and a blow-dry stays smooth rather than swelling by the time you arrive.
