A cream-gel is the useful format for twists, and this is one of the better known ones. Straight gel gives hold and leaves the hair dry. A cream gives moisture and no hold at all. Cantu's Twist & Lock sits between the two, with pure shea butter doing the conditioning inside a gel base.
The 13 oz tub is aimed at twists, braids and locs, where the style needs to survive several days without frizzing at the roots or going crisp at the ends. It smooths the cuticle as you part and twist, so the finish stays defined through humidity.

Application tips
Damp hair, parted into the sections you intend to twist. Run a small amount down each section, smooth it root to tip, then twist or braid immediately while everything is slick.
For locs, apply at the root during a retwist rather than along the length. Let it dry fully before bed, or the shape will not hold.
Results
Twists hold their definition from the first day through the take-down, and a twist-out afterwards falls in clean, separated pieces instead of fuzzing at the root.
Locs sit tidy at the new growth without a stiff, waxy build-up. Hair stays moisturised inside the style, which is where a plain holding gel usually lets you down over a fortnight.
