Knots in a child's hair are rarely the problem on their own. The problem is dragging a comb through them dry. This 177 ml detangler from Cantu is there to soften the knot first, so the comb has something to glide on.
It works by adding slip to the hair shaft. Less friction means less snapping, and less snapping over months is what actually keeps length on the head. On fine coils and curls that break easily, that matters more than any single wash. Use it on damp hair after rinsing, section by section, and work from the ends up towards the roots rather than the other way round. Suits waves, curls and tighter coils from about type 2 through to type 3C. Keep the bottle in the bathroom rather than the styling drawer; it earns its keep during wash day, not at the end of one.

Application tips
Get it on before the comb comes out, not while you are already halfway through a knot. Damp hair takes it best, though it does the job on dry hair after a swim or a windy walk home.
Split the head into four, cover each section, then comb from the ends upward. Starting at the roots is what causes tears and lost length.
