This is the cleansing shampoo in Cantu's flaxseed line, so it does more lifting than the avocado one. If you use a lot of gel, cream or oil during the week, it clears the buildup without taking your natural oils with it.
Flaxseed oil is the smoothing part. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and it helps the cuticle lie flatter, which is where the frizz control comes from. The same fatty acids do the strengthening work, so hair is less prone to snapping while you detangle.

Application tips
Wet the hair fully, then apply along the parting rather than dumping it on top. Fingertips at the scalp, small circles, and let the run-off do the lengths.
Two rounds if you have used gel or butter all week, one if you have not. Follow with conditioner every time, since a cleansing shampoo without one leaves the ends exposed.
Results
Hair squeaks less than you would expect from a shampoo doing this much lifting. The scalp feels clear rather than tight, and week-old gel comes off without three rounds of lather.
Wet hair holds together through the detangle instead of shredding, and once dry the length reads smoother, with the frizz halo noticeably flatter than after a standard wash.
