Two ounces of deep conditioner sounds like nothing until you use it. The formula is concentrated, so a 2 oz / 50 gm pot covers a full head of medium length hair, and the size makes it easy to trial before committing to a full tub.

Pure shea butter is the whole idea. It goes into the cuticle rather than sitting on it, which is what separates a treatment from a rinse-out conditioner, and it puts elasticity back into hair that has been bleached, relaxed or heat styled into brittleness. That fatty content is also why the softness lasts past the next wash instead of rinsing straight down the drain.

Apply to clean damp hair, leave it on for as long as you can spare, then rinse. Heat helps, so a shower cap or a warm towel over the top is worth the extra ten minutes. Once a week is plenty for most people, and hair that has been through a recent colour service may want it twice.

Best on 2a through 3c hair that snaps rather than stretches when you pull on a strand.

Application tips

Fifty grams goes further than it looks, so start with less than you would use of a rinse-out conditioner. Clean, damp hair, worked through in sections with the ends taking the most.

Cover with a cap and let body heat do the work while you finish showering, then rinse thoroughly. Skip the roots. This one belongs on the mid-lengths down.

Results

The first thing you notice is drag disappearing. A comb that caught every few centimetres runs clean, and sections separate without you pulling them apart.

Bleached or relaxed lengths look less see-through at the ends and feel weightier between the fingers. Curl pattern comes back more evenly too, since dry patches along a strand are what break a pattern up.
