Cantu's Coconut Curling Cream is the product a lot of people in the UK meet first when they start looking after curls properly, and it holds up for a reason. It is built on pure shea butter with a blend of oils, and it does the two things a curl cream needs to do: define, and moisturise.
Elongation is the part it is best at. Curls come out longer and clearly separated rather than shrunk up and clumped together, and they stay soft, without the crunch or the greasy residue a shea-heavy cream can leave. Frizz drops noticeably, the shine looks natural, and dry strands get enough moisture that breakage slows down over time.
The 12 oz / 340 gm jar is the standard size and a sensible starting point. Apply to damp hair in sections, smooth from root to end, and either air dry or diffuse. On denser textures, layer a gel over the top for firmer hold.

Application tips
Damp to wet hair, applied in sections, smoothed down the length with flat palms so the curl lies in one direction.
Twist or finger coil individual pieces for a tighter set. Let it dry completely before separating anything. Fine hair should use a pea sized amount per section and build from there rather than starting heavy.
Results
The curl lengthens and softens, defined along its length rather than compressed into tight ringlets.
There is no crunch and no heavy residue, so hair is touchable straight away and stays manageable the next day. Dryness and frizz both settle, and the finish reads soft rather than glossy. Dense, coarse textures get the most from it.
