A conditioning rinse is a lighter proposition than a masque and a heavier one than everyday conditioner, which makes it the right weight for hair that is damaged but still washed often. Blue Magic pitch this at dry, damaged and chemically processed hair, and it comes in 14 oz, or 414 ml.

Aloe vera and vitamin E are the named conditioners. Between them they restore softness and put moisture back into strands that have gone brittle, and the strengthening side of it shows up as fewer split ends and less breakage over time rather than as anything dramatic on the first wash. Apply after shampoo, work it through the lengths, leave it while you finish in the shower, then rinse. Chemically processed hair benefits the most, since that is where the damage runs deepest.

Weight is the whole distinction, and it is worth getting right.

Application tips

Get the excess water out of the hair after shampooing, or the rinse is diluted before it lands. Spread it through the lengths with a comb rather than fingers, since even coverage matters more than quantity on damaged hair.

Two or three minutes does the job. A cool final rinse closes the cuticle and makes the shine hold. At this weight it suits every wash rather than once a fortnight.

Results

Softness returns without the heaviness a masque leaves behind, which is the whole reason to reach for a rinse instead. Brittle strands regain some give, split ends stop multiplying as fast, and the comb stops catching. Chemically processed hair sees the most change, since that is where the cuticle has taken the worst of it. The finish is clean rather than coated.
