BaByliss Pro Ceramic 230 Straighteners | Professional Smooth & Frizz-Free Styling for All Hair Types
The 230 in the name is the top temperature in Celsius, which is where a straightener has to be for coarse or resistant hair to give in on the first pass. Anything less and you go over the same section repeatedly, which does more harm than the higher heat would have.
The plates float, so they adjust to the hair as you pull through rather than clamping it flat, and the polished ceramic surface spreads heat across the whole plate instead of concentrating it into hot spots. Less friction means less snagging, and less snagging means less breakage on textured hair.
Heat-up is quick, which sounds like a minor feature until you are running late. Section the hair, protect it first, and work through methodically.
BaByliss Pro is the professional line rather than the high street one, and the difference shows in the plates more than anywhere else. Cheap irons wear their coating off within a year and start catching on the hair. These do not, which is most of the argument for spending more once instead of less repeatedly.
A professional iron, built for hair that ignores a lower setting.

Application tips
Start on hair that is completely dry, since steam trapped under hot plates is how damage happens. Clip the top away and work in narrow sections, no thicker than your finger. Let the irons come up to heat, then run them from root to tip in one steady pass rather than pausing partway.
Use a heat protectant first. Fine or previously bleached hair rarely needs the full 230°C, so build up rather than starting at the top.
Results
Sleek is the word. The lengths lie flat with the frizz pressed out, and the shine is the kind that comes off a smooth cuticle rather than off product. The floating plates glide instead of dragging, so there is no snagging halfway down a section.
Straight lines hold, coarse hair presses out properly, and the finish sits closer to a salon blow-dry than a home one.
