Aunt Jackie's built this masque for that moment. It is ultra-rich and buttery, thicker than a conditioner and heavier than most masques, and it goes into the hair shaft rather than sitting on it. Omega fatty acids and rich carrier oils do the reconstruction, restoring strength and elasticity to strands that have gone brittle.
Method matters as much as product at this stage. Work in small sections, apply from the ends upwards where the damage is oldest, and leave it long enough to soften before a comb goes anywhere near it. Rushing a take-down is how people lose the length they spent months protecting.

Application tips
Give it more time than a normal conditioner and less hair to cover at once.
Six or eight sections, applied on wet hair, tips first, roots left clear. Cap the head and leave it half an hour, or an hour with a warm towel over the top. Detangle inside the masque with your fingers before any comb appears. Rinse in stages, section by section.
Results
Wiry, thirsty hair softens enough to handle within one session, which is the difference between a take down that costs you length and one that does not.
Strength and stretch come back, so strands bend rather than fracturing. The masque is heavy, and coarse hair will want that weight while fine hair will not.
